An Announcement

I feel like I am at an age/stage of life where if I tell someone that I have an announcement, they automatically assume it's that I'm pregnant. Then when it turns out I'm not pregnant, and I tell them the real announcement, they're like, "Oh...that's awesome!", but really what they mean is "Oh...that's almost as awesome as ushering new life into the world, I guess..."

Guys, I have an announcement, and before you start buying me a bunch of bibs and crinkly toys, please know this: I am not pregnant. At least, I don't think I am...

That being said, I do have some exciting news! Not baby-having news, but still reasonably exciting news (man, this is maybe too much build up, but I'm sticking with it)!

This summer, I am going to be speaking at Alt Summit in Salt Lake City!

On June 17th (two days after my first-ever half marathon...is that bad?), I'll be hopping on an SLC-bound plane for the best creative conference of the year! I've basically been doing cartwheels all over New York City ever since I got this most wondrous news. Here's my bio from the website:

I mean, I'm psyched just to be going, but to have the opportunity to present alongside such talented people is just unreal. When I look at the list of speakers from the website, this is basically what I see:

I'll have more information on all of this in the weeks to come, but basically, just know that I'm not having a baby, but I am speaking at Alt!

Will I see you there? There's still time to register! I'd love to snag one of your beautiful business cards and hear all about your life.

  1. Just earlier today, I was texting my sister, "When do you have time to talk? I have big news!" Before I hit send, I looked at that message, and said to myself, "Might as well tell her the news in the text anyway, otherwise she's going to assume I'm pregnant!"

    Sounds super exciting Christy!!

    1. Haha! I think I need to learn to steer clear from phrases like "exciting news" or "big announcement"

And thanks so much! I am super pumped.

  3. I have to say that from where I'm sitting, speaking at ALT seems way cooler than being pregnant.

Congratulations to you!!! That's so awesome, and you will totally rock it. (Also, you are a beautiful genius.)

    1. Thanks, Nicole! Being pregnant seems a bit tougher than prepping to go to a creative conference, so I'll take it. Will I see you there?

    2. Sadly, no. I am currently pregnant and travel is out of my scope. But one day, I will make it to Alt. It's a goal of mine. Until then, I'll live vicariously through others.
